How to get started as a content creator?

Share Article

Many aspiring content creators have asked me this question. It is an important one, and I will answer it in this article.

There are two ways to get started with content creation:

  1. Learn how to create content the old fashioned way (aka “the hard way”)
  2. Use an existing platform that allows you to create content without any technical knowledge

Option 1 requires more time and effort than option 2, but if you want to learn how to write great articles, videos, podcasts, or other forms of content, then it’s the only way to go.

If you don’t have the patience for option 1, then use option 2.

Option 2 is easier to start with, but it can limit what you can produce. The best part about option 2 is that you can scale up your offering over time.
Here are some examples of platforms that allow you to create content without having to code anything yourself.

YouTube
Youtube is the most popular video hosting site on the web. You can upload your content, or you can find content created by others. In addition, Youtube has its search engine, so you can easily find what you are looking for.

You can also add text and images to your videos.

Slack
Slack is a messaging app that was built to replace email. Slack allows users to send messages back and forth between each other.

It also includes a chat window where users can communicate with each other.

Slack has a variety of different apps that you can install. One of them is called Drip.

Drip allows you to create automated content such as emails, blog posts, social media updates, etc.

The benefit of using Drip is that you can schedule when the content is sent out. This makes it easy to keep track of when to post new content.

Drip is free to use for individuals. However, if you want to scale up your content marketing, you can upgrade to their paid plan.

Medium
Medium is another blogging platform like Blogger and WordPress. Medium doesn’t require you to know HTML or CSS.

Instead, you can focus on creating quality content.

Medium offers a wide range of features to help you improve your writing. For example, they offer editing tools, plagiarism detection, and even AI-based suggestions.

Medium is owned by LinkedIn, which means that it is integrated into their product offering. Therefore, you can share your content across LinkedIn and Medium.

Medium is an excellent place to start because it gives you lots of options for formatting your content.

Podcasting Platforms
A podcast is a digital audio file that is distributed through various online channels.

Podcasts provide an opportunity to deliver information via audio format. They are similar to radio shows, but there is no live host.

Podcasts are a great way to distribute information because people listen to them while commuting, exercising, or doing something else.

They are also helpful in providing training and education.

For example, you can record a podcast to teach people how to build websites. Or you can record a podcast to advise on how to lose weight.

Many podcasters use services like Anchor to publish their podcasts. Anchor provides all the necessary features to make publishing your podcast simple.

Anchor also helps you to promote your podcast.

In addition to these three options, there are plenty of other content creation platforms out there.

To get started, here are some resources that can help you get going.
